February 12- 17th (Interview with Marita Mariasine)

A year after meeting Marita Mariasine in Delma 75, Port au Prince, under the Caribbean Sky.  We sit down a year later for an interview in a Montreal Restaurant, to catch up on what is  upcoming for building in 2012.

“It is about Getting Resources into Local Hands”

The Haiti Projects is devoted to providing a voice for the Haitian people and materializing initiatives to cause massive cultural exchange in Haiti to inspire the next generations through a series of projects that teach alternative, creative, self-reliant means of living, exposes them to world changes and crucial information, and creates avenues for cultural exchange in all realms of the arts. In collaboration with the Haitian people, The Haiti Projects is an umbrella for a movement that works this intention on all levels. It was created at the moment of the earthquake that rattled up the momentum to work project to project for the bigger picture of uniting with the other nations of the world in an effort to affect the direction of humanity, and restore justice in Haiti.

The Haiti Projects is open to include in its efforts all projects that are moving in the direction of international solidarity and self sufficiency. For specific details on current projects, or to develop a different project, please contact Marita Mariasine by email: newearthroot@gmail.com

DESCRIPTION OF THE GENERAL IDEA:
Funds should be kept at a minimum and eliminated from the equation all together when possible. One facilitator of this is that there are no salaries in the process.
All funds should be spent locally in Haiti.
Funds are raised project to project by participants.
Volunteers come on their own airfare and food money. Money will be needed to provide food and transport to your volunteer Haitian guide who will volunteer to accompany the foreigner in Haiti.
The volunteer Haitian guide and the foreigner coming to Haiti to do a project are paired as equals collaborating in the success of the project. This also ensures the cultural exchange part of the projects.
